A Greening Strategy of Mitigation of the Thermal Environment for Coastal Sloping Urban Space

Greening can usually have a cooling effect on urban space; but is this law also applicable to coastal sloping space? The space of Qingdao Haizhifeng Square, with topography, was the area we selected study. study contained two parts: green and residential area. ENVI-met used create six scenarios. Different lawns, black pine ash were planted in areas effect. results showed that closer sea, better thermal comfort. In both area, trees increased PET site, higher LAI trees, more obvious At 15:00, hottest time during summer, highest at pedestrian height lowest scenario without reaching 28.3 °C, full ash, 34.3 °C. same time, average difference between scenarios 1.4 generated building away from sea breeze, especially case topography behind it or dense street road. Finally, concluded that, spaces slope lawns should be part low areas, shade not walkway.
